I've gotten a few subscribers! Yes, I count two as a few. I'll try to be good about tagging everything appropriately but I don't always keep the best of notes.

Sometimes I'm afraid I over-tag or the tags will seem like the entire story encompasses torture or violence. I'll still tag them for it but most only have a small instance of it. I try to note it if it's ridiculously violent or dark (aka Nine Eleven Ten)

Also, I've watched BBC Sherlock 02x01 and I rather enjoyed it. I had some issues with certain things but overall I still had fun.

My next set of recs will have some Star Trek in it. I know this has been XMFC central but it's been super easy to find lots of great epics while Star Trek seems to be prepping for STXII or such. I've been going through the Big Bang pieces but slowly.

X-men: First Class

Charles' Killer by luchia
Synopsis: Erik/Charles, modern serial killer/detective AU, kidnapping, torture, dark. When detective Charles Xavier finds himself hunting down a vendetta-driven serial killer, it doesn't take long for him to realize he's in over his head. It only takes a little longer for him to realize his killer is, too.
Notes: Incredible characterization. Impossible decisions. An underlining mystery. It's amazing.

Let Them Talk by manic_intent
Synopsis: Logan/Charles, D/S AU, imprinting, implied dub-con/non-con, implied domestic abuse, BAMF!Logan, human!Charles. There are stories where Charles is Erik’s sub and they are both happy, but what about some more angsty theme? AU where mutants and humans live together but mutants think themselves more important and often treat humans like dirt. Sub/Dom pairs are created by imprinting. Mutants generally imprint on mutants and Erik who is the most powerful among them thinks that he will have equally powerful sub. Turns out that he imprints on Charles – a brilliant yet entirely human Professor. Cue Erik being disgusted and angry with his Sub, which Charles takes really hard. Erik is ashamed of him, and doesn’t want him to associate with other mutants, but slowly Charles charms his way to the hearts of everyone and one day another mutant (Logan pretty please?) challenges Erik’s claim over Xavier.
Notes: Charles is meek and human in this so that takes a bit getting used to but his growth is beautiful. Logan is awesome and super understanding and patient and all he wants is the best of things for Charles in his stoic way. Raven's clique are all BAMFy and Tony Stark makes an appearance and it's GREAT. Erik is pretty harshly portrayed in this but I felt within the realm of being matched with a human. Brought up some interesting thoughts on human!Charles interaction. I really loved this piece although some of the following sequels weren't as strong (but still fun to read)

Rescue Run by rebooting WiP
Synopsis: light Erik/Charles, abduction, torture, sexual assault. Sixteen months after the beach, Erik sends Emma on a routine sweep to ensure that the Westchester mansion is still all right, and finds out that Charles, Hank, Alex, Sean, and a re-formed Darwin have been taken. Despite their prior enmity, Erik and Moira join forces to find out who is behind the disappearance, and what they'll need to do to bring their friends back home.
Notes: This is pretty dark so it's not for the faint of heart. Excuse the accidental psuedo-rhyme. Characterizations are a little off (to me) but it was still an engrossing read. There are many heartbroken parts. Prepare tissues.

No Yesterdays On The Road by pocky_slash
Synopsis: Erik/Charles, post-beach!AU, abduction. It's been two months since Cuba and things are settling down for Charles, Erik, and the beginnings of their mutant school. Right up until Charles disappears, that is. Faced with the possibility that a bitter Emma Frost has kidnapped Charles, Erik is forced to team up with Moira to hunt down the remainder of the Hellfire Club. From there, they hope to locate Frost and retrieve Charles, without killing each other along the way.
Notes: This was so good for me. Moira's & Erik's interactions were spot-on and the journey their enmity-to-begruding-friendship-la-la was awesome. Loved it. Plus, kid!Jean Grey! The ending!

♥♥ Three Kinds of Learning & The Stuff National Anthems Are Made Of by luchia
Synopsis: Erik/Charles, abduction, imprisonment, BAMF!Charles. Erik intends to recruit Raven's supposedly amazing, all-powerful older brother. Instead, he finds himself dealing with Charles Xavier, a weak, tweed-addled professor who seems to think powers don't matter nearly as much as personality. Erik's misconceptions are blown apart when Raven goes missing.
Notes: This helped me discover my love for reigning!Erik & reining!Charles. The journey into Erik & Charles feelings is slow and sweet and steady and lovely. Bemused!Erik is the best Erik, second to badassrighteous!Erik. I fucking love everything in this series.

Blood and Steel and Miles Between
Synopsis: Erik/Charles, beach AU, hurt/comfort, bittersweet, epic. On a beach in Cuba, Charles manages to talk Erik down from the edge. But even after the missiles have been diverted, compromise is impossible. There are two different futures to build, and Erik and Charles will always be separated by their principles. But when Charles is kidnapped and the X-Men can't find him, Erik will get him back no matter the consequences.
Notes: So fucking good for me. So. Fucking. Gooooooood.

Thing by pointwoman
Synopsis: Arthur/Eames, fluffy, as-kids!fic. For the kink-meme prompt: I want Eames and Arthur like toddlers. Eames absolutely knowing that he is gonna marry arthur when they grown up
Notes: So cute I think I became diabetic. Eames counts his little allowance as part of his way to keep Arthur the way he is accustomed. OMG FLAIL.

One of the things I love about White Collar fandom/fanfic is how well-done the threesome dynamic is written. I'd actually really like to see some of this quality transfered to a Spock/Kirk/Uhura dynamic. I've enjoyed reading some but few have I loved (Hounds of Morrigan comes to mind).

You'll notice a lot of repeat authors. That's because I don't actively search out too much fic in other fandoms besides Star Trek right now. But that could change. X3

Star Trek

Downloaded Series by ennyousai
Synopsis: BSG fusion/crossover, Starfleet era, Angst, Hurt/Comfort. (Kirk/McCoy) Crossover between Star Trek XI and Battlestar Galactica 2003
Notes: You don't need to have knowledge of Battlestar Galatica prior to reading.

Beware Greeks by janice-lester
Synopsis: Starfleet era, Mpreg, Crackfic. (Kirk/Spock) Aliens have done something to Jim, and only Spock seems to notice. And oh boy does he notice!
Notes: I'm not usually a fan of mpreg as they tend to read incredibly OOC to me (and not just in that hormonal sort of way) but the author keeps a great Kirk voice throughout.
James T. Kirk was not a man to let a little thing like pregnancy interfere with picking up chicks.

White Collar

Always Starts the Same, with a Boy and a Girl by [personal profile] lightgetsin
Synopsis: Modern AU. (Neal/Elizabeth, Neal/Elizabeth/Peter) Summer, 1998. Neal Caffrey robs the gallery where Elizabeth O'Dell is working late, and comes away with a lot more than art. Agent Burke has no idea what's about to hit him.
Notes: A great exploration of a what-if scenario: Neal meets Elizabeth first. Cue the FBI agent. I can totally see this and now I just want more!
Quote: Peter punched a wall and then laughed, all in the first sixty seconds.

Never Leave a Trace by [personal profile] sam_storyteller
Synopsis: Fantasy elements. (Peter/Neal/Elizabeth) Neal Caffrey can steal souls. Peter Burke has two shadows. Everything's normal...except when it isn't.
Notes: I read this when it was posted but that was pre-reccing period. XD This reads like a gritty fairytale but keeps all the characters intact. Lovelovelove.
Quote: He'd once drawn a bird so real it flew off the page. He couldn't be tattooed; the ink ran right out of his skin while he slept.

Somewhere I Have Never Traveled by [personal profile] sam_storyteller
Synopsis: Modern AU, Company Man-verse. (Peter/Neal) In another universe, Peter Burke went corporate. He wouldn't have met Neal Caffrey -- except Neal tried to rob his company. And Peter, naturally, caught him.
Notes: I wanted this so badly when I saw "Company Man" and it was delicious as I envisioned.
Quote: This meal is gonna cost more than that suit you're wearing.

Exquisite by [personal profile] sam_storyteller
Synopsis: Episodic. (Peter/Neal/Elizabeth) There's a place in Neal Caffrey's head where he doesn't have to lie to himself or be three steps ahead of the other guy, but so far only Peter has found it -- and Peter won't give him what he really wants. Elizabeth, meanwhile, is slowly adjusting to the idea of abetting felons...
Notes: Amazing. Near episodic companion of the canon series through Neal's POV. Introduces original elements but in a very believable manner and keeping to canon. Links to referenced art are at the end of each chapter.
Quote: The problem with Neal was really that if you gave him a rule he obeyed it, but you had to give him the right rules. Otherwise you'd come downstairs one morning and find him sitting with your wife on your couch petting your dog and wearing a turtleneck. Nobody was supposed to look that good in a goddamn turtleneck.

Presque Vu by [personal profile] rageprufrock
Synopsis: Epic, Arthur POV. (Arthur/Eames) Or, "on the tip of the tongue." Arthur meets Mal first. He inherits Dom, after. Everything else is on him.
Notes: Another ones of those pre-rec-listing fics. I seriously love everything written by [personal profile] rageprufrock and this one binds my soul. This is the fic that got me more interested in Inception fic. The beauty in this writing... I'm shit at words. The balance of wit, tragedy, friendship and love... I wish I had her talent.
Quote: "The part where he probably smells like tragedy and failure, or the part where I am embarrassed to be friends with someone who could be attracted to him?"

Breathe Into It by [personal profile] rageprufrock
Synopsis: Modern AU, Epic, Eames POV. (Arthur/Eames) When Mal leans into his office and asks Eames what he did to his back, he can't exactly say, "the new graphics intern," so he says, "Oh, just stress, love."
Notes: Another lovely fic by [personal profile] rageprufrock. This one is absolutely delicious and Eames voice is hilarious. Arthur as a yoga instructor might sound a bit odd but she makes it work. Man, does she make it work.
